Duties of the Imperial Guard
The primary duties of the Imperial Guard is to serve and protect the Empire with total loyalty. This encompasses giving one's life without question, but dying with great honor and glory. A Klingon Warrior aspires all their life.

What is the Klingon Imperial Guard?
The Klingon Imperial Guard, KIG, is the Secret Service of the Klingon Empire. KIG was organized to provide the unlimited protection for the Klingon Empire from without and within the Klingon government. Preservation of the traditional Klingon way of life is the primary objective of the KIG.
KIG serves as the right hand to the Emperor and will do what it has to protect the Emperor. Imperial Council from any harm, word or deed, but will also severe that right hand of the Emperor. Plus, will remove any of the Imperial Council to protect the Empire from any harm, word or deed made by the Emperor or Imperial Council.
For this duty a special breed of loyal Klingon Warriors are required and those warriors, become warriors of the feared Klingon Imperial Guard. They take an oath to give their all for the honor and glory of the Klingon Empire and to serve in the Black Fleet in life and death.
Since you are reading this material, then I know you have taken the oath of the Imperial Guard and now serve as one of the Imperial Guards. So read and learn so that you may serve the Empire honorably. Plus keep the traditional Klingon way of life alive. In the handbook we will be examining the structure and operations of KIG today. Included is the history, creation of the Imperial Guard and those warriors, whose loyalty, honor, courage, and duty has brought the Imperial Guard to where it is today.

Klingon Imperial Guard History
When the Empire was young and the first Emperor, Kahless epetai- Riskadh, ascended the throne. Due to his new position, Kahless realizing the importance of a elite group of warriors to maintain his throne and safeguard his person. He therefore established the Klingon Imperial Guard. Warriors of immense loyalty and superior fighting skills. As with the nature of the Kaomerex Zha or perpetual game. He surmised that factions from within the Empire would make attempts to end his reign.
In the founding of the Imperial Guard, he choose Captain Kartel sutai-Riskadh, a member of his line. As first commander of the Imperial Guard, the first Imperial Guard unit consisted of only twenty warriors, and they were mostly from the Riskadh line. Which was choosen from the best of the Empire offered. After Emperor Kahless's death in the war with the Romulans.
The Imperial Guard had only one surviving member, which was Keks vestai-Reshtarc. The appointment of the new Emperor Krek epetai-Reshtarc. The Emperor rebuilt the Imperial Guard with elite warrior from the major lines of the Empire. Unifying the major lines in one distinct unit under the Emperor. Kekas was promoted to the rank of Imperial Admiral. Admiral Kekas swore each member of the Imperial Guard to an oath of honor and loyalty to the Empire and Emperor. Unique to itself and started the tradition that the Imperial Guard wares a Black Battle Sage. Denoting that they serve in the Black Fleet in the life as well as in the next. Also during this time the Imperial Council was developed using the majoy lines. Emperor Krek and Admiral Kekes died in an explosion aboard a new defense complex. The investigation revealed a Romulan agent was responsible for the explosion and deaths. The ascendance of Keth epetai-Rivaki the the Imperial Throne marked a new era in Klingon history. His replacement of Imperial Admiral, was Fleet Admiral Kraken zantia-Hurric. Imperial Admiral Kraken's military experience brought about a major change in the Imperial Guard. He realized the Imperial Guard should be the extension of the Emperor's hand. So by increasing the size of the guard and establishing ship units , which worked independently from the Klingon Fleet.
The Imperial Guard established itself as a totally independent and elite unit of the Klingon Empire. Since Emperor Keth, The Centenarian, had such a long reign. The Imperial went through numerous commanders, but each carried on the standard set forth by Imperial Admiral Kraken. Over time the Imperial Guard Eliminated traitors, wiped out colonies of rebelious Klingon and on many occations struck had at the center of the Imperial Klingon States. Soon the Imperial Guard was envied by the fighting forces of the Empire. The Imperial Guard brought more fear than the Imperial Intelligence. The two groups have worked together on numerous events. Intelligence accumulating the information and the Imperial Guard acting on it, they respect each others talents and skills. Today the Imperial Guard carries out the same traditions established by its ancestors.
Imperial Guard Regulations
All regulations listed here in are to be used as operational guidelines for establishing a chapter ship or outpost of the Imperial Guard. These regulations are not carved in stone and retains a certain amount of flexibility for the chapter commander. Unless otherwise specified herein. Each regulation will be preceded by the initials and number in bold letters. All regulations are subject to change by this office only depending on circumstance.

The Imperial Guard is a sub organization of the United Federated Planets, INc. U.F.P. There is a life time membership cost. If you are a member of KIG you are a member of UFP.

Mission of KIG
The mission of the Imperial Guard chapter is to act as a local Klingon fan club of that community. Imperial Guard chapters are encouraged to participate in local community service activities, Grand openings, and ect. Also work closely with charity organizations as representatives of the Imperial Guard. These activities will show the local communities that some Klingons are good guys also. Instead of the bad guys portrayed in the movies.

The Klingon Imperial Guard Time Period
The Klingon Imperial Guard Time Period is set during the Next Generation's 24th Century. When the great alliance is in affect with the Federation. So we finally admitted the Federation into the Empire.

Forming a KIG Chapter
A KIG chapter may be formed with as few as two members with no limitations being put on the size or style of the ship or outpost. Except the chapter Commander must be at least Eighteen years of age. That was chosen for the chapter. All this office requires is that you register a drawing, blue prints, name and information, stats on ship or post. Any Star Trek fan may join KIG and any of it's exisiting chapters . Upon joining KIG the new members are assigned to an entering rank. Based on their age as follows;
5yrs-13yrs Recruit;
14yrs-17yrs Enlisted;
18 on Up Cadet.
Promotions begin at Cadet Rank. Starting with a complete Klingon Style Uniform. Promotion to the Rank of Ensign. Promotions there after are up to the Chapters Command Staff, which is determined basically by the members participation status and honor to their chapter and the Imperial Guard as a whole.
The acting Chapter President, Commander, will remain as acting commander. Until they have a complete Klingon style uniform. Then this office will recognize them as a full commander. Further promotions for the commanding officer is based on the chapter's activities, which are reported in the monthly reports. that are sent to this office.
First officer is promoted as the commanding officer is, with the exception they cannot outrank the commanding officer.

A New / Old Imperial Guard Chapter
A New/Old Imperial Guard Chapter will receive a chapter packet. When they send in all the UFP apps. and proper duues of four stamps per member. Plus a chapter roster containing, names, promotions, department, and Klingon names. Printed and separated from the UFP paperwork. The initial chapter will have to make copies of the handbook. This is one of the ways we have been able to keep material costs down. So, we would not have to have a membership dues. for KIG. The chapter packet contains the folowing; One handbook, one charter certificate, one membership certificate per member, one membership badge per member.
There is a small membership pin, which is offered, but again, due to cost, it is up to the individual chapters . If they would like to purchase them. The pricing information is located in the Quarter Masters page at the end of this book.
KIG 6
Chapter Members Voting
Chapter Members may vote, voice opinions, set on special committees, call for disciplinary hearings, and attend all chapter meetings, and functions. They are hereby known as the general assembly.
Members may challege for any position., they think that they can do a better job. Challenges may be made only at a formal meeting. Then a 30 campaign takes place. This gives the challenger and challengee a chance to campaign for votes. at the next formal meeting. After the 30 day campaign, the general assembly will vote. See KIG 9 for voting. Unless one stands down honorably. In either case it is up to the chapter commander to notify this office of the change.

Chapter Promotions
A chapter can promote itself, and accept donations, but cannot sell items for personal profit using KIG or chapters name.
Chapter funds not collected for charities, will cover the operating cost of the chapter. These operating cost include such things as printing, photo copies, promotional displays, or other matters, that the chapter has voted on at a Formal meeting. No one may be paid for their position

KIG 8
Regular Meetings
Regular meeting of the chapter shall be held at least once a month to discuss and/or vote on chapter matters, and upcoming activities. These meetings should have a three to five days notice.
Emergency or special meetings can be called by the chapter command staff to discuss or vote on important or emergency matters. No alcohol can be consumed during the above meetings until after the meeting adjourns.

Command Staff
The chapter command staff consists of; Commander, First Officer, and Department Chiefs. These positions are put to a vote for confidence once a year by the general assembly. Challenge made be made at any time of the year, except a month before or after a vote of confidence, which only takes a majority to win.
If an opening should arise within the command staff for whatever reason, the charter commander may call upon nominations, to fill the position. Or they may select a member, who they think can take responsibility for the position.
Nominees should be members, who attend meetings regularly and attend as many of the chapter sanctions as possible. Elections should be arranged as soon as all the nominations have been announced or posted to the general assembly. The chapter should notify this office as soon as the selection has been made. So that the files can be updated.

KIG 10
Specific Departments
All charter members are answerable to their specific departments and ranking officers of the command staff.
The Command Staff shall have the following responsibilities and duties;
Commander - Has the responsibility for those members under his command. He will take command responsibilities over all chapter meetings and functions. Except where the Imperial Guard High Command deams necessary. It has the honorable thing for this office to trust and let the chapters run themselves.
First Officer - Is in command when the Commander cannot be present at the meetings, functions and etc. He will take care of recruitment and membership records. He will see to it that a record of all meetings and functions are kept for future scrutiny. Plus make sure that the Commander or themselves notifies this office of new members and etc.
Department Chiefs - Serves as the body of the Command Staff. Members are eligible for department chief position after attaining the rank of Ensign. Unless otherwise appointed by the commander regardless of the members rank, with this exception that they are acting until they reach the rank of Ensign.

Disciplinary Actions
Disregard to any regulations. May result in disciplinary action either by this office or the chapter commander. You will be given only one warning, before any other action will be taken. These are just a few disciplinary actions;
Not allowed to any function as Chapter Member.
Rank demotion, by one rank.
Position removal.
This disciplinary action is only given by this office, if a whole chapter commits a major offense. This office holds the right to pull the chapter's charter out of the Imperial Guard.
KIG 13
Non-Discrimination
.KIG does not recognize any form of discrimination against any race, color, religion, creed, gender, national origin, age, disability, marital / veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other legally protected status.
Department Duties
Department duties and responsibilities in an Imperial Guard ship is as follows. These duties and responsibilities are just basic outlines. This office will allow each chapter Commander and/or Command Staff to add to the departments where as needed. All departments should send in a report to communications for the Newsletter.
Communications
Sees to the calling of all members for meetings, activities, and/or special events. Coordinating Chapter Newsletters, Flyers. Keeps records on upcoming functions for the Chapter. Keeps the minutes for each meeting.
Security
Maintains Security for all Chapter members at meeting and funciotns. Sets up and runs security at any function the chapter is working as Security. Makes sure all members have badges on. Security also checks status on Visitors name tags and /or hand stamps at functions. Plus makes sure anyone signs or takes visual roll calls at all meetings. Then reports to the Commander or the First Officer.
Weapons
Assists Security when needed. Joins with Engineering in creating and improving ship and weapons designs, plus will assist in creating, designing and building displays and or props.
Helms and Navigation
Maps out the best route, and most concepts way to any function the chapter is participating in. Co-ordinates all travel, motels plans, and reservations as needed. Takes care of transportation to all approved functions.
Engineering
Creates, designs and builds displays, media advertisments. Also improves ship and weapon design. Makes sure all supplies and materials needed for any functions are packed and available upon arrival. Set up with the assistance of Weapons all displays for conventions and/of functions.
Science
Runs all environmental collection projects. Like aluminum cans, paper products, blood drives, and food drives. Plus any other matters dealing with the environment.
Intelligence
Gathers information on all members of chapter and other organizations. Should keep track of all Department records for future references as needed. This includes all the dirty good stuff! Just one step below what the humans call Blackmail. This just a little comedy to liven up the regulations, so LAUGH!
Diplomatic
Keeps relations and good communications with other clubs. Contacts all Media for Chapter function advertising. Plus will also keep scrapbook of chapter participation of functions, which includes photos, newspaper clippings, anything to help the reputation that KIG is trying to keep. Co-Operating with Communications to build the best darn newsletter possible. The Diplomatic Department is also in charge of the crews morale. Be all that you can be, make your team happy.
Medical
Keeps all medical records of chapter members and a complete medical kit, which will also be assessable at all the functions and meetings. Arrange first aid training for all chapter members. Have your chapter ready for any contingency in case of an emergency.
Every chapter member should asist each other. This way the chapter will run smoothly.
Honorifics
Honorifics are additions to one's name, which denotes an amount of status. From slight to extremely high. There are five normally used honorifics in Klingon society and they are listed here, from the lowest to the highest.
tai- The one who is civilized.
vestal- The one of battle, battlelord.
sutai- One of discipline, maturity.
zantai- The one of fate, destiny.
epetai- The one who is honored, exalted.
Courtesy and tact are new to the majoriy of Klingons. Previously, simple force was the best way to get what one wanted, however, that time has pasted. It is now necessary for the race to learn to peacefully co-exist with other so that all may benefit. Any Klingons see this as a sign of weakness or surrender, but it is not so. Strength comes in many forms and if it means that the Klingon race must be tactful to be considered strong, then so be it!

Korsal Hundred percent Imperial Klingons the family line of the Chanselor and Fleet Admiral of KIG.
DrExA Hundred percent Human Fusions. One of the most influencial lines in the Empire.
SuBAiEsh Human Fusion and Romulan Fusion. Supports umproved relations with the Federation and attempts to place as many line members as possible in the Klingon Diplomatic Corps.
SimpaRRi Mostly Human Fusions but includes Imperial Klingons and Romulan Fusions. Traditionally a House of DrExA and Violently anti- Federation, Imperial Navy.
LimmRii Split almost evenly amoung the three races. With aImperial Klingons having a slight majority.
URuSSiG Romulan Fusions. Do Not work well with Imperial Klingons. Have been known to muteny under Imperial command, sinsative about their biological heritage.
TreBOR Imperial Klingon. Strong family brought up from slavery. Exceptionally loyal to the Korsal family. Dedicated to the Empire. Proficeint in their line of duty.
Dok'MARR Imperial Klingon with some Human Fusions. Very opposed to reconciliation with the Federation. Only house to have two ruling Epetai's.
PallarA Mostly Imperial Klingons and Human Fusions, very few Romulan Fusions. One of the more moderate of the houses. And extremely loyal to fellow line members.
JuRiSS Equal numbers of Human and Romulan Fusions. Administrators in the Empire. Often serving a Diplomantic post. A reputation of scrupulous devotion to duty.
HuRRiC Imperial Klingon. Top notch Imperial Marines to the Empire. Highly sought after as body guards.
SolAzARN Imperial Klingons. One of the oldest family lines with a reputation of ruthlessness and cruelty.
Other Information
The following information are just some suggestions. From this office, unless otherwise stated.
Cadet Corp- This department was created for the Klingon children. They are promoted just like regular members, with the exception that they reach the age of sixteen or shows responsibilities of their own action. The chapter commander may ask the general assembly to vote on a ceremony of ascension.
Duties and Responsibilities- To learn to conduct themselves with the honor and to improve their education. Education is the center of all the cadet corps. promotions. This department would also have fun, with educational activities, to keep their young Klingons from feeling left out.
The following certificates are just some of the certificates that either chapter or KIG has created. IT is highly recommended that each chapter should create their own certificate. Now those marked KIG are also available at these offices. For an example;

Ceremony of Ascension
This ceremony is to be used for either one of the following: When a member has the complete Klingon Uniform and is passing on to the Rank of Ensign. When a Cadet Corp. member makes the walk of to the warrior ranks.
Procedure
Have all uniformed members line up into two equal rows facing each other. With a walkway through the middle of them. Each with a pain stick and as the selected walks by, they should tap, poke, or prod, but not lightly. This symbolized the river of pain. When the selected makes it through they will be considered one of the warrior brothers.

Uniforms
The following uniform types below are listed for your knowledge. You must have a type one or two, to be allows to wear the KIG emblem on your battle sage and promotions. These are examples;
Type one: Full battle armor which consists of chest plate, shoulder armor, belt and buckle, boots.
Type two: Civilian uniform which consists of a vest, belt and buckle, boots. For females dresses are wanted.
Type Three: This is the chapter work uniform, which consists of a T-shirt with either ship, KIG or both insignias. Ball caps are optional.
Reminder: Types one or two are guidelines which you may create and design to your specifications as long as it resembles the type of uniform and a black battle sage.
